Overwhelmed by Photos? Turn It Into a Game

May 04, 20263 min read

If you’ve ever looked at your photos and thought, “I don’t even know where to start organizing my photos…”, you’re not alone.

So many people feel behind when it comes to photo organization, digital photo storage, and preserving their memories. It can feel like a huge project that requires a full day (or a full weekend) to even make a dent.

But here’s the truth:

You don’t need a big block of time to make real progress with organizing photos or preserving memories.

The Myth That Keeps You Stuck

A lot of us believe we need hours of uninterrupted time to work on photo organization or digital decluttering. And because we don’t have that kind of time very often, we don’t start at all.

That’s where the overwhelm comes from.

But progress doesn’t come from occasional big efforts. It comes from small, consistent steps.

What You Can Do in Just a Few Minutes

You might be surprised how much you can actually get done in 5 minutes or less when managing your digital photos:

  • Add names to a few faces using facial recognition

  • Favorite or delete a handful of photos to reduce clutter

  • Upload one small batch from your phone to safe photo storage

  • Add a quick description to one meaningful photo (preserving the story)

  • Create or organize a single album in your photo management system

None of these take long, but they all make a difference in organizing your photos and preserving family memories.

And when you do a little bit consistently, it adds up faster than you think.

Why Small Steps Work

Small steps remove the pressure.

Instead of feeling like you have to tackle everything at once, you’re simply doing something. And that’s what builds momentum.

It also helps you reconnect with your memories in a more meaningful way. Instead of it feeling like a task on your to-do list, it becomes something you actually enjoy.

Try This: Match-a-Day in May

If you want a simple way to build a daily habit of organizing photos, I’m inviting you to join a fun challenge this month.

Printable ‘Match-a-Day in May’ challenge calendar for May 2026. Each day encourages working in your FOREVER account for the number of minutes matching the date (e.g., May 3 = 3 minutes). Includes a checklist-style calendar, instructions, and four task options: facial recognition, declutter/delete, organize, or create. Participants can track progress, submit results, and earn drawing tickets based on completed days, with a bonus entry for completing all 31 days.

It’s called Match-a-Day in May.

Here’s how it works:

👉 Match the day of the month with minutes spent on your photos

  • May 4 = 4 minutes

  • May 10 = 10 minutes

  • May 20 = 20 minutes
    …and so on.

That’s it.

It’s simple, flexible, and completely doable, even on busy days.

And if you miss a day? No problem. Just jump back in.

To make it even more fun, we’ll also be doing a drawing at the end of the month. Tickets for the drawing will be given based on the number of days you complete the required minutes, so the more days you match, the more chances you have to win.

Start Where You Are

I’ll be doing this right along with you, and I’d love for you to join me.

You don’t need to be caught up. You don’t need a perfect photo organization system.

You just need to start.

Want to Join?

If you’d like to do Match-a-Day with me, just send me a message.

I’m happy to help you get started with organizing your photos, choosing the right digital photo storage, or preserving your family history.

A few minutes today might not feel like much, but it’s how your photos get organized, your memories get preserved, and your family history stays accessible for generations.

And that’s what really matters. 💙
